I lived and worked in Croatia for a year, hopping between the islands along the Dalmatian Coast. Life here is all about the sea, with sparkling waters and charming old towns scattered along the coastline.

Every island has its own vibe, from lively harbours to sleepy villages and hidden bays. Getting around is part of the fun, island hopping with ferries or catamarans. The locals are friendly everywhere you go, which makes every stop feel welcoming.

There’s so much to explore both on land and by water: cycling past olive groves and vineyards, walking up to panoramic viewpoints, or kayaking along the coast to hidden beaches.

The towns are just as special. Medieval streets, little cafés and waterfront restaurants give a taste of the easy, connected way of life here. Evenings are slow,  enjoying fresh seafood, a glass of wine and watching the sunset over the Adriatic.

Living here gave me a real sense of how the islands connect, Croatia will always be one of my favourite places for that simple joy of island life.
