The Dolomites are a place I keep returning to. I’ve been three times and I still remember my first visit, driving along a mountain road, turning a corner and suddenly being met by towering, jagged limestone peaks rising straight out of the landscape. It was a moment I’ll never forget.
Traveling through the Dolomites feels dramatic. Winding roads lead through high mountain passes and open meadows, with views that stop you in your tracks. Alpine lakes such as Lago di Braies, Lago di Sorapis and Lago di Antermoia feel almost unreal, their turquoise and milky blue waters reflecting sheer cliffs and open skies.
Hiking is where the Dolomites truly come alive for me. Trails around Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Sassolungo and Passo Giau offer some of the most spectacular walking I’ve experienced, expansive ridgelines, alpine meadows and routes that lead to mountain huts high above the valley.
The Dolomites are bold and beautiful, they are a place that continually draws me back, offering moments wonder every time I return.
